Remove the back cover by pushing it from the top two corners, as
indicated by the arrows below.

With the back cover removed, your phone should look like below. The
battery will also be loose.

Now remove your sim and memory card. Three sets of screws need to be removed. These are
different lengths so make sure you don't mix them up. Remove the
screws circled in red first, then the ones circled in blue and lastly
the screws circled in green. The battery compartment can now be lifted
away from the rest of the phone.
![Nokia Lumia 820 disassembly stage 3]()
Turn the battery compartment over and your phone will look like below. If you want to remove the headphone jack, circled near the top of
the image, carefully peel it away from the back cover. It's held in
place with double sided tape. The speaker, circled near the bottom of
the image, can be levered free.
![Nokia Lumia 820 disassembly stage 4]()
The headphone jack and speaker have now been removed.
![Nokia Lumia 820 disassembly stage 5]()
Two ribbon cables, circled in red, now need to be disconnected. These
have a plug and socket type connection so can be levered up, away from
the circuit board.
![Nokia Lumia 820 disassembly stage 6]()
You can now lift the circuit board away from the rest of the phone,
as shown below. To remove the earpiece, circled in red, simply lever it
free.
![Nokia Lumia 820 disassembly stage 7]()
The earpiece has now been removed. Next you need to remove the metal
plate which the LCD screen is attached to. First apply heat around the
edge of the metal plate for around 30 seconds, using a hot air gun or
hair dryer. This will soften the adhesive tape which holds the part in
place. Then carefully lever from the points circled below. Apply more
heat if required.
![Nokia Lumia 820 disassembly stage 8]()
The metal plate and LCD screen have now been separated from the front
cover and touch screen.
![Nokia Lumia 820 disassembly stage 9]()
If you need to remove the LCD screen from the metal plate, apply heat to
one corner of the screen then slide something like an old credit card
between the screen and metal plate. Do not lever the screen as it could
easily break. Keep applying heat and work your way around the screen.
The screen is stuck down very well so be patient and eventually it'll
come free.
![Nokia Lumia 820 disassembly stage 10]()
The LCD screen and metal plate have now been separated.
![Nokia Lumia 820 disassembly stage 11]()
To remove the touch screen from the front cover/frame, apply heat around the outer edge of the frame for
around 60 seconds and then push the touch screen out of the front
cover/frame.
![Nokia Lumia 820 disassembly stage 12]()
The touch screen is now free. Disassembly is now complete. Reverse the whole procedure for reassembly. If you've found this disassembly guide useful, please support formymobile.co.uk and order the tools and parts you need from our site. We ship worldwide!
