HTC Incredible S screen
Tools required for disassembly: Torx 5 screwdriver,
Phillips screwdriver, plastic tool such as a guitar
plectrum or credit card.
First remove your back cover, battery, sim and memory card. Then
remove the seven torx 5 size screws, circled below.

Next run something like a credit card around the join of the battery
compartment to lever it away from the rest of the phone.

With the battery compartment removed, your phone should look like
below. Remove the orange sticky tape indicated by the two arrows and the two circled Phillips head screws.

Indicated by the arrows below are two ribbons, connected to the
circuit board via zif connectors. The ribbons are secured by a latch
which opens and closes on a hinge. Carefully flick each latch towards
the ribbon (each latch is shown in the closed position below) and the
ribbons will then be free.

Below you can see the zif connectors in the open position. Circled
is the socket for the vibrating motor cable. This is a plug and socket
type connection. Carefully pull the cable to unplug.

Below you can see all three cables disconnected.

Now lift the circuit board over from right to left. You'll see that
the circuit board is still attached by another ribbon cable, circled
below. Disconnect this ribbon in the same way you disconnected the
previous two with a zif connector.

With the circuit board removed, your phone should look like below. The
front facing camera, rear facing camera and mini USB socket are circled
below. Disconnect the cables just like the previous zif connectors.

Below you can see the front facing camera, rear facing camera and mini
USB socket once they have been disconnected from the circuit board.

To remove the screen first remove the two pieces of silver tape,
indicated by the arrows below. Then apply some heat from a hot air gun
or hair dryer to soften to adhesive holding the screen in place. Apply
heat for around 60 seconds then push your screwdriver into the circled
area in order to lift the touch screen slightly. Keep applying heat as
the complete screen assembly is well stuck down.

Carefully run your plastic tool around the join of the screen, making
sure that both the touch screen (glass) and LCD come away together to
avoid damage to the LCD. Keep applying heat as you move around the
screen and try not to use too much force/leverage.

With the screen removed, your phone should look like below.

Turn the screen over and peel the orange ribbon cables, indicated by the
arrows, away from the back of the LCD screen.

The ribbon cables should now be free from the back of the LCD screen, as
shown below. You can now separate the touch screen and LCD screen (you
may need to apply some more heat).

The touch screen and LCD screen should now be separated, like below.
The light sensor for the keypad is indicated by the arrow below. If you
wish to remove this, apply some heat and then peel it away from the
touch screen.

The light sensor for the keypad is now free. Disassembly is now
complete. Reverse the whole procedure for reassembly. If you've found this disassembly guide useful, please support formymobile.co.uk and order the tools and parts you need from our site. We ship worldwide!
