Next, slide something thin and flat, like the edge of an old credit
card, all the way around the join of the battery compartment, as shown
below. This will release the battery compartment.

The battery compartment is now free. Two ribbon cables, circled
below, now need to be disconnected. Each has a plug and socket type
connection, so simply lever each connector up, away from the circuit
board.

Now lift the circuit board from right to left and you'll see another
ribbon cable. Again this has a plug and socket type connection, so
simply lever the connector up, away from the circuit board.
![Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini i8190 disassembly stage 4]()
The circuit board is now free, as shown below. The ribbon cables
which connect the front and rear facing camera to the circuit board are
circled below. If you wish to remove them, refer to the next stage of
the guide.

Circled below you can see the ribbon cables for the front and rear
facing cameras. Each ribbon cable is connected via a zif connector. The
pink/brown part is a latch that opens and closes on a hinge. Carefully flick the latch over, away from the ribbon, and
the ribbon will be free. Below you can see the zif connectors with each
latch in the closed position. Refer to the next stage to see each latch
in the open position.

Below you can see the zif connectors in the open position. You can
now remove the cameras by simply pulling them away from the circuit
board.

The front and rear facing cameras are now free. To remove the loud
speaker/antenna/jack socket, first remove the screw circled below.
![Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini i8190 disassembly stage 8]()
Now turn the circuit board over and you'll see another ribbon cable,
circled below. Again this has a plug and socket type connection, so
simply lever the connector up, away from the circuit board. Now lift the
white plastic part, indicated by the arrow, away from the circuit board.
![Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini i8190 disassembly stage 9]()
The loud speaker/antenna/jack socket is now free.
![Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini i8190 disassembly stage 10]()
Going back to the screen, first remove the vibrating motor, circled near
the top of the phone, and the memory card reader circled near the bottom
of the phone. To remove these parts, first apply some heat using a hot
air gun or hair dryer. This will soften the adhesive tape holding the
parts in place and you'll be able to lever them free. Next remove the
power and volume buttons, indicated by arrows 1 and 2. These buttons
simply lift free. Next lift away the grey microphone cover, indicated by
arrow 3. Lastly, peel back the ribbon cable indicated by arrow 4. It's
held down lightly with double sided tape.
![Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini i8190 disassembly stage 11]()
The power button, volume button, vibrating motor, memory card reader and
microphone cover are now free. To separate the screen from its frame,
first heat the front of the screen for around 60 seconds with a hot air
gun or hair dryer. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen in
place. Then carefully push something like the end of your screwdriver
into the recess indicated by the arrow below. This will raise the screen
slightly and allow you to slide your plastic tool under.
![Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini i8190 disassembly stage 12]()
Carefully slide your plastic tool all the way around the edge of the
screen. Keep applying more heat and keep pushing your tool further under
the screen. Be very careful around the ribbon cable and near the soft
keys at bottom of the screen. The screen is very well stuck down, so
take some time, be patient and the screen will eventually come away.
![Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini i8190 disassembly stage 13]()
The screen is now free. The home button, indicated by the arrow below,
can be simply lifted away.
![Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini i8190 disassembly stage 14]()
The home button is now free. The gauze for the earpiece is indicated by
the arrow near the top of the image shown below. This can simply be
lifted away. The ribbon cable for the soft keys, indicated by the arrow
near the bottom of the image, is stuck down lightly with adhesive tape.
If you need to remove this part, apply some heat then carefully peel it away.
