HTC Touch HD screen
Tools required for disassembly: Torx 5 screwdriver,
Phillips screwdriver,
Mobile phone opening tool,
hot air gun or hairdryer, plastic tool such as a guitar
plectrum or credit card.
Remove your back cover, battery, sim, stylus and memory card. Now
remove the cross head screw, circled below.

Lever the antenna cover off using a mobile phone opening tool.

With the antenna cover removed your phone should look like
below. Now remove the six screws you have access to.

Next you need to separate the battery compartment from the rest of
the phone. To do so lever it away using your opening tool. There are
various recesses in the back of the phone do allow you to do this.

With the battery compartment removed your phone should look like
below. Three ribbon connectors (circled in red) needs to be
disconnected. Each attaches like a plug and socket. Just lever each one
up to unplug. Note that the bottom connector has a piece of black sticky
tape on it so you'll need to remove this before disconnecting the
ribbon. Also remove the screw circled in white.

Below you can see the three disconnected ribbons. Circled is the
large ribbon that was covered with black tape.

The volume buttons are stuck to the side of the housing and need to
be carefully peeled away. Below you can see the volume buttons after
they have been unstuck from the side of the phone. You can now peel the
large brown/orange ribbon away from the phone. It's held in place with
double sided tape. The circuit board which the ribbon is connected to
will come away with it. The on/off switch will be stuck down in the same
way the volume button was and also needs to be peeled away when you
remove the circuit board.

Below you can see the large ribbon and circuit board removed. The on/off
button will also come loose. Remove the screw, circled bottom left. The
vibrating motor, circled bottom right, should be levered up so it is
loose.

Lift the lower circuit board up and you'll be able to see another ribbon
connector which needs to be disconnected. Again, it attaches like a plug
and socket. Just lever this away from the circuit board to unplug.

With the circuit board removed your phone should look like below. To
screen is held firmly in place with double sided tape and to remove it
you first need to heat the screen (using a hot air gun or a hair dryer),
then push your opening tool very firmly in the circled area. You'll then
see the screen raise slightly allowing you to slide something like a
guitar plectrum or credit card behind it. Move your plastic tool all the
way around the edge of the screen to release it.

Below you can see the loosened screen. You can now simply lift the
screen away from the housing.

You should now have the screen removed. Reverse the whole procedure for
reassembly. If you've found this disassembly guide useful, please support formymobile.co.uk and order the tools and parts you need from our site. We ship worldwide!
