Tools required: Torx 5 screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, plastic tool such as a guitar
plectrum or credit card.
- Remove your back cover, battery, sim and memory card. Five screws
need to be removed. The two at the bottom of the phone are longer than
the other three. Make a note where each screw goes.
- Run something like a credit card around the join of the battery
compartment and lever it from the rest of the phone.
- With the battery compartment removed your phone should look like
below. Now remove the four screws you can see.
- Run something like a credit card around the join of the front cover
and lever it from the rest of the phone. You can then separate the front
and back of the phone.
- Your phone should now look like below. Remove the screws you can
see. Three ribbon cables need disconnecting (circled in red). Each
ribbon attaches with a zif connector. This kind of connector has a latch
which opens and closes on a hinge. When the latch is open the ribbon
cable can be slid in and out of its connector. The two ribbons in the
middle of the phone have tape over them. Remove the tape and then
disconnect the ribbons. Also disconnect the small ribbon circled near
the bottom of the phone.
- You can now lift the circuit board away from the body of the phone,
as shown below. A number of clips hold the front cover in place. Pry
these away to release the front cover.
- With the front cover removed your phone should look like below.

Now carefully slide something like a credit card right under the screen.
This will release the strips of double sided tape which hold the screen
in place.

You should now have the LCD screen removed. Reverse the whole procedure
for reassembly.
