Samsung J700 disassembly, screen replacement and repair

Tools required for disassembly: Phillips screwdriver, plastic tool such as a guitar plectrum or credit card.

Remove your back cover, battery, sim and memory card. Remove the four screws you can see. Samsung J700 disassembly stage 1 Peel back the sticker shown in the picture below. You may need something with a thin, sharp point to peel the sticker back with. Two rubber stoppers (circled) need to be levered out to reveal two more screws that must be removed. Samsung J700 disassembly stage 2 Run your plastic tool along the join of the battery compartment to separate the phone into two halves, as shown below. Next you need to disconnect the ribbon, circled right. This attaches like a plug and socket. Simply lift the connector up, away from the circuit board to unplug it. Remove the screw, circled left. You can now lift the green circuit board away from the phone. A little force is required. Samsung J700 disassembly stage 3 You should now have the circuit board removed, like below. Note that a ribbon, circled, will have disconnected when you removed the circuit board. Again, this attaches like a plug and socket. Samsung J700 disassembly stage 4 Remove the identification sticker, as shown below. Remove the volume button (circled) which will be loose. The buttons underneath will be lightly stuck to the side of the phone and need to be peeled away. Lever off the grey part, indicated by the arrow. Samsung J700 disassembly stage 5 Your phone should now look like below. Remove the four screws you have access to (one is under the ribbon cable). Samsung J700 disassembly stage 6 You should now be able to separate the phone into two parts, as shown below. Two rubber stoppers need to be levered out to reveal two screws. Remove these plus the two others screws you see. Samsung J700 disassembly stage 7 Run your credit card around the join of the housing to release it. Once you have the two parts separated as far as shown below, pull in the direction shown by the arrows. Samsung J700 disassembly stage 8 Your phone should now look like below. Pull the little metal bars in the direction shown by the arrows. Samsung J700 disassembly stage 9 Lever out the camera, speaker and ringer (circled). They'll be stuck down with double sided tape. Lever out the part indicated by the arrow. Slide your plastic tool under the green circuit board to release the LCD screen. Samsung J700 disassembly stage 10 You should now have the LCD screen removed, as shown below. Samsung J700 disassembly stage 11 Turn the screen over. Remove the green tape at the top. Now release the circled ribbons. To do so, flick the black latches up and
then pull each ribbon away. Samsung J700 disassembly stage 12 The camera and flex ribbon, which you've just disconnected need to be connected to the board of your new LCD screen.
