Tools required for disassembly: iPhone tool kit, needle/paperclip or something
similar.
- First push your sim removal tool into the hole at the top of the
phone. This will release the sim holder. If you don't have the original
tool, use something like a paper clip.

- You should now have the sim holder removed. Tip the phone up and
you'll see two screws, circled below. Remove these.

- Now attach a suction cup (comes supplied with our iPhone tool kit)
near the bottom of the screen. If the screen is badly damaged, attach
the suction cup to an area of the screen that is less damaged as this
will help the suction cup grip better. Lift the suction cup up and the
screen will raise up. You need to lift the bottom end of the screen as
it is still attached by ribbon cables near the top.

- You can now access a number of ribbon cables. The two circled,
numbered 1 and 2, attach like a plug and socket. Just lever the
connectors up, away from the circuit board, to unplug them.

- You should now have access to the third ribbon cable. This is
slightly different from the previous two and is called a zif connector.
The black part opens and closes on a hinge. Flick this part over,
towards the ribbon, and the ribbon will be free and you can pull the
complete screen away from the rest of the phone.

- Your phone should now look like below.

-
Now remove the screws on each side of the phone. There are two screws on
one side and three on the other.

-
Lay the screen flat and remove the screw circled near the top of the
phone.

-
Now apply some heat using a hot air gun or hair dryer all the way around
the phone. Then carefully slide something thin and flat, like a credit
card, around the join of the two parts of the screen in order to release
the LCD screen.

-
You should now have separated the LCD screen from the touch screen, as
shown below.

-
You now need to remove the damaged touch screen from the frame. First
apply some heat to loosen the adhesive holding the touch screen in
place, then run your plastic tool along the join of the two parts, as
shown below.

-
Now carefully peel the old screen away from the frame, making sure you
remove any little shards of glass that are left behind so that the new
touch screen can be applied to the frame. Reverse the whole procedure
for reassembly. If you've found this disassembly guide useful, please support us and order the tools and parts you need from our site. We ship worldwide!
