Tools required for disassembly: Phillips screwdriver, plastic tool such as a guitar
plectrum or credit card.
- Remove your back cover, stylus, battery, sim and memory card. Five screws
need to be removed, circled below.
- Now use something like a credit card to lever out the battery
compartment then pry it away from the phone.
- With the battery compartment removed your phone should look like
below. A number of ribbon connectors (circled)
need to be disconnected. Each attaches like a plug and socket. Just
lever each one up to unplug.
- You can now lift the circuit board away from the phone, like below.
Another ribbon connector needs to be detached (circled). Again, this
attaches like a plug and socket. Carefully
lever it up to unplug. Also remove the two screws you can see.
- Now pry the speaker cover from the phone.
- You now need to move the orange ribbon cable to one side, as shown
below. It's stuck down with double sided tape. Be careful when you peel
this away from the back of the screen as it can tear if you rush. The
volume and camera buttons will probably come loose at this point. Next,
lever the screen out from the two circled points.
- With the screen removed your phone should look like below.

To remove the screen from its frame, carefully slide a credit card
underneath. This will release the double sided tape holding the screen
in place. Below you can see the position of the double sided tape after
the screen has been removed. You now have the LCD screen removed.
