Tools required: Torx 5 screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, plastic tool such as a guitar plectrum or credit card.

  • Remove your back cover, battery, sim and memory card. Five screws need to be removed. Once you have removed the five screws you can also remove the plastic antenna cover. Pry it away from the point indicated by the arrow below.

  • Run something like a credit card around the join of the battery compartment to release it from the rest of the phone.

  • With the battery compartment removed, your phone should look like below. Two screws, circled in red, need to be removed. Three ribbon connectors (circled in bue) need to be disconnected. Each one attaches like a plug and socket. Just lever each one up to unplug. Next, detach the GPS antenna, circled in white. Again, this attaches like a plug and socket. Just lever it up to unplug. Next, lever the volume switch, indicated by the arrow, away from the side of the phone (it will still be attached to the circuit board so don't damage this connection).

These just slot back into their recesses. Now carefully peel back the gold foil, indicated below by the arrow on the left. Next, completely remove the piece of sticky tape, indicated below by the arrow on the right.
