Nokia 6500 Classic disassembly, screen replacement and repair

Tools required for disassembly: Torx 5 screwdriver, small flat head screwdriver or some kind of metal lever.

First remove the battery cover, battery and memory card. Nokia 6500 Classic disassembly stage 1 Run your fingernail around the edge of the join of the top cover to unclip it then remove this part. Nokia 6500 Classic disassembly stage 2 Now remove the camera surround. It'll be stuck down with double sided tape so just peel it away. Also remove the clear camera window, indicated by the arrow. Your phone should now look like below Nokia 6500 Classic disassembly stage 3 Push the front cover up the remove it. It'll just slide off. Nokia 6500 Classic disassembly stage 4 Your phone will now look like below. Nokia 6500 Classic disassembly stage 5 Use a metal lever like a flat head screwdriver to pop the LCD frame out. Use the lever on both sides of the phone. Nokia 6500 Classic disassembly stage 6 Pull the LCD frame towards you. You'll now be able to access five screws which hold a metal plate in place. Unscrew these and lift away the metal plate to access the connector from the LCD. The LCD will still be attached to the phone at the bottom by a ribbon which attaches like a plug and socket. Just lift this up to unplug it. Nokia 6500 Classic disassembly stage 7 You'll now have the LCD frame (and LCD) removed. Nokia 6500 Classic disassembly stage 8 The LCD will easily pop out of the frame and allow you to replace it. It you are only replacing the LCD screen you don't need to go any further than this. To continue with disassembly push the circled part (the antenna) in the direction shown by the arrow, in order to remove it. Nokia 6500 Classic disassembly stage 9 Push the circled part (the USB brace) in the direction shown by the arrow, in order to remove it. Be careful not to damage any of the small and delicate surrounding components. Nokia 6500 Classic disassembly stage 10 The circled ribbon connector needs to be detached. Again, this attaches like a plug and socket. Just lift it up to unplug. Nokia 6500 Classic disassembly stage 11 Lift the circuit board away from the phone's housing, noting that the coax cable (circled) is still attached. Again, this attaches like a plug and socket so just lift it up to unplug. Nokia 6500 Classic disassembly stage 12 Your phone should now look like below. Nokia 6500 Classic disassembly stage 13 Turn the phone over and pull the black part in the direction shown by the arrow, as shown below. Note that it will still be attached by a wire on the other side so don't try to remove it completely. Nokia 6500 Classic disassembly stage 14 To remove the keypad membrane, peel it away from the housing, starting from the circled part. Nokia 6500 Classic disassembly stage 15 With the keypad membrane removed your phone should look like below. Reverse the whole procedure for reassembly.
