Tools required for disassembly: Torx 5 screwdriver, plastic tool such as a guitar plectrum or credit card.

  • Remove your back cover, battery, sim and memory card. Four screws need to be removed, circled below. Then pull the white band in the direction shown by the arrows to release the clips holding it in place.

  • With the band removed your phone should look like below. The lock switch will also come away. Now, starting at the point indicated below, pry the front band away from the phone

  • With the front band removed your phone should look like below.

  • Turn the phone over and then lift the touch screen away from the phone. It will still be attached by a ribbon cable to don't try to separate it just yet. You should also be able to lift the keypad away from the phone.

  • Now slide something thin and flat like a credit card all the way under the LCD screen in order to release it. Note that the LCD screen will still be attached by a ribbon cable so don't try and remove it yet.

  • Now flip the screen over to access two more screws. Remove these screws.

  • You can now lift the chassis to one side, as shown below. Two ribbon connectors, circled, need to be detached. They attach like a plug and socket. Just lever each one up, away from the circuit board, to unplug.

  • Your phone should now look like below. The touch screen and LCD screen ribbons need to be disconnected (see the next stage of the guide).

  • Below you can see the ribbon connectors for the LCD screen (left) and touch screen (right). The connector on the left is a zif connector. The pink coloured part is a latch. Lift it up and the ribbon will release. The connector on the right is like a plug and socket. Simply lever it up to unplug.

  • You should now have both screens removed. Reverse the whole procedure for reassembly.
